An amazing Autumn of shows comes to Portsmouth Guildhall!

Don’t miss what is set to be one of the busiest seasons ever at Portsmouth Guildhall this Autumn as a host of top acts take to the stage of the South Coast’s premier concert venue and a new Studio space is launched!

Comedy lovers will not be disappointed as some of the country’s top touring comedians come to the city including Sarah Millican, Dave Gorman, Joe Lycett, Ross Noble and Steve Bugeja with the Guildhall’s popular pre-show Comedy & Curry dinner experience available which includes a curry with all the extras, a drink and early entry to beat the queues. The monthly ever popular Laugh out Loud Comedy Club nights also continue, presenting the best in live stand up featuring comedians from TV and around the world.

Renowned as one of the best music concert halls around, The Guildhall will not disappoint this Autumn with artists to suit all tastes. Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets featuring the early music of Pink Floyd, Level 42, Father John Misty, The Proclaimers, Saxon, Travis, Deacon Blue, Daniel O’Donnell, Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra and a massive Chase and Status DJ set are all to feature with 2 course pre show dining and/or hospitality experiences available on all shows.

The venue is also delighted to welcome survival expert Ant Middleton for an adventure-filled one man show sharing his experiences as a modern day explorer, Superstar Chef James Martin with his On the Road Again tour and the legendary Joanna Lumley with her first ever live tour, It’s All About Me!

The Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra’s season of classical concerts begins in October featuring a range of concertos and symphonies from some of the greatest composers of all time including a Smooth Classics II concert and a magical Last Night of the Christmas Proms. The Portsmouth Chamber Music Series season also gets underway with intimate concerts from the Goldmund Quartet and pianist, Steven Osborne. Film classics, Jurassic Park and Raiders of the Lost Ark can also be experienced like never before with The Czech National Symphony Orchestra performing Williams’ magnificent scores live to the full HD picture.

Further entertainment comes in the form of some great tributes and music with Queen Extravaganza, The Ultimate Eagles, Magic of Motown, Bjorn Again and The Whitney Houston Show and events for all including Revolution Pro Wrestling starring Jushin Thunder Liger and Zack Sabre JR, The Whiskey Affair, Mixed Martial Arts - Shock N Awe 28, The DJ Shop Untouchables Darts and Portsmouth Beer Festival Christmas sessions.

Christmas and New Year are always exciting times to be in the Guildhall with Christmas Party nights and a Masquerade themed New Years Eve party on offer with alternative seasonal entertainment for all the family.

This year the Guildhall welcomes Ballet Theatre UK’s stunning production of the world’s favourite fairy tale, Sleeping Beauty. Set to Tchaikovsky’s glorious music with classical choreography by Artistic Director, Christopher Moore, the magic of this much loved story is reawakened. Then back by popular demand, direct from London’s West End, is Thriller Live! A spectacular concert celebrating the undisputed King of Pop, you will experience Michael Jackson’s non stop hits in a show you will never forget.

In October the Guildhall’s new Studio space will be launched. The first phase of an ambitious £15million programme of restoration and development, the Studio provides a much needed 185 seat capacity facility where a diversified arts and music offer will be developed which supports emerging talent, provides a small conference and meeting space and an accessible hub for the community.

Featuring a diverse offer of music, comedy, Studio theatre, contemporary dance and children’s theatre, shows and events for the new space already on sale include sibling band, The Dunwells with their fusion style of rock and electronics, delightful shows for children; Land of Nod and Little Star and a series of workshops for October half term including an Intro to Puppetry, Intro into Fight for Comic Films and Get into Stage Management.

The creative force behind the Guildhall’s Renaissance programme and Studio space, designer and co-founder of Red or Dead, Wayne Hemingway MBE, will be holding an exclusive fundraising evening on Sunday 18th November with limited spaces still available. Discover how Wayne transitioned from fashion designer into a social and cultural designer as the Renaissance project moves forward to its next stage.
