THE ULTIMATE RETRO AND BOARD GAMING FESTIVAL COMES TO PORTSMOUTH GUILDHALL THIS SUMMER!

Gamers! Prepare to get your geek on as the ultimate in Retro and Board Gaming fun comes to Portsmouth on Saturday 18th August in a new event, Guildhall Games Fest!

In a collaboration between Portsmouth Guildhall, Dice Portsmouth and Game Over, following their involvement in the hugely successful inaugural Portsmouth Comic Con earlier this year, the organisations have united once again to bring a bigger and better retro gaming event to the city.

Celebrating more than 40 years of gaming from Pong and Pac Man, to Mario and Minecraft, Game Over brings an unbeatable selection of every type of games console imaginable from the Vectrex to the Game Cube and Playstation 1 to the Binatone TV Master IV, on which you and your friends can battle it out on your favourite games and discover something new to master.

Then hit the shelves and explore a library of hundreds of exciting board games covering all genres from family classics such as Cluedo and Monopoly to modern hits; Dead of Winter, King of Tokyo and Sheriff of Nottingham with Dice Portsmouth’s dedicated staff on hand to help recommend a game and teach you to play.

Locally based market leaders in computing and custom PCs, Novatech, are also on board as Official Sponsors and will be attending the event with their Retro Arcade Virtual Reality Experience.

Portsmouth Guildhall’s Commercial Manager, Katherine Scott said, “The retro and board gaming areas were so popular throughout our Comic Con weekend and from feedback we have received since, we realised that there was a big demand for an event of this kind. We’re delighted that we’ve been able to move forward with this so quickly”.

Game Over's owner, Steve Lowe added, “We had an overwhelming attendance at the Comic Con event. It demonstrated the popularity of retro video gaming and people enjoyed themselves so much."

Lee Purslow of Dice Portsmouth said, “Board gaming has seen a huge increase in popularity since crowdfunding websites were conceptualised and since then the thirst for new, interesting and unique board games has never been stronger. Dice Portsmouth are excited to be partnered with the Guildhall and look forward to teaching hundreds of new games at this fantastic retro event.”

Daytime sessions from 11am - 5pm are open to families and players of all ages, with evening sessions from 6pm restricted to over 18s. A range of tickets are available which include free entry to the Guildhall’s Clocktower Classics Car & Vintage Event, the following day, Sunday 19th August.

Tickets are on sale now at www.guildhallgamesfest.com
