University of Portsmouth Double Bill

Brought to you as the culmination of the Applied Theatre course, the University of Portsmouth Double Bill are family shows based off the tales of Hans Christian Anderson. Bringing together a mix puppetry, dynamic sets and lively music, this is a night that is perfect for you and your little ones to see some new developing talent.

The Tale of the Cockatrice

Deep in the vaults of an ancient priory a hideous creature awakens. A cockatrice is born! Knights flee in terror… Can a humble nun defeat the beast? Award-Winning Mumblecrust present two muddle-headed storytellers, breath-taking puppetry and spine-tingling live music in a fable for monster-lovers young and old.

Arthur’s Dream Boat

One night, Arthur has an amazing dream about a beautiful pink and green boat with a stripy mast. He can’t wait to tell everyone about it but no one (not even his dog!) is interested. In fact, they don’t even notice that this very same boat is growing on his head, getting larger and larger by the minute! Soon, Arthur is bouncing along the waves in his very own dream boat

SLIME
Sunday 10th May, start time 11:00am and 1:30pm
Tickets £7 including booking fee and levy for both and adult and child
Targeted age range 2-5 year olds
Slug and Caterpillar are starving, and the only leaf left in the garden is just out of reach. Slug thinks they should work together. Get the leaf, eat the leaf, play a game, be friends. Caterpillar has other ideas. Slugs are gross, they’re covered in slime and they have terrible taste in music.

The Bonkers Balloon Show
Sunday 21st June, start time 11am
Tickets £7 including booking fee and levy for both and adult and child
Targeted age range 5+ year olds
Music, magic and lots and lots of balloons! Watch in amazement as a simple balloon gets turned into an alien, a helicopter, a scuba diver and an air guitar! Stand back in awe as audience members are transformed into balloon creatures in front of your very eyes. This is a unique show you do not want to miss.
