Since their debut, they have been making waves in the alternative world with their debut EP catching the attention of the Apple editorial team who placed them on their flagship global rock playlists alongside some the world’s most respected and well-known artists. They have received support from Radio 1 from BBC Local, National Introducing and R1 Rock queen Alyx Holcombe, Radio X, and enjoyed huge festival success.

Next to take to the stage is singer-songwriter Brooke Star. With a love of emotionally evoking music and lyrics, she has pushed her way into the world of pop and is now using her versatile tone and experiences to write emotionally driven songs based on her own personal struggles.

Their powerful sound and theatrical visual storytelling have earned them a reputation as one of the most distinctive live acts on the UK rock scene. Following a landmark year in 2025, they are now preparing to record new music, while continuing to engage fans with their popular acoustic YouTube series, further proving their versatility and ability to connect with audiences in fresh and exciting ways.

Classic energy with a modern heart, evoking the California music scene of the 70s are Cold July. An award-winning young band from Guildford that write timeless, harmony-driven, indie-folk-pop, with Americana and classic singer-songwriter influences that resonate across their multiple genres of fans. With 100+ shows since their formation, this band has been leaving audiences floored by the sheer quality of their songwriting and sensational live performances.

Completing the line-up is Mackenzie, a fast-rising UK pop-rock artist who blends emotionally honest songwriting, powerful vocals, and infectious melodies with 2000s nostalgia. Pompey Summer Sounds, programmed by well-known organisations on the local music scene, Word of Mouth and LMSUK will end by 7.30pm, providing the perfect warm-up to the World Cup final later that evening.

Of the line-up, Josh Robinson (LMSUK) said, “Ten years of putting on line-ups in Portsmouth, and I genuinely cannot remember being this excited. The talent we’re bringing to the heart of the city is phenomenal and the timing couldn’t be better. A world-class warm-up, full of energy and vibes for the whole family. If you love music, this is the event you don’t want to miss! Portsmouth has always had a music scene that punches above its weight. I’ve seen it first-hand the crowds, the energy, the way this city shows up for live music. That’s exactly why this event belongs here. We’re not just filling a gap in the schedule before the World Cup final kick-off, we’re giving this city a moment it’ll talk about long after the final whistle”.

Presented by The Guildhall Trust (the charity that runs Portsmouth Guildhall), the Pompey Summer Sounds festival will be the finale of a special Centenary Series of concerts in Guildhall Square supported by Portsmouth City Council to celebrate 100 years of Portsmouth’s city status.

Other concerts in the Centenary series taking place on 17th and 18th July include a night of epic film music with The Best of Williams & Zimmer and a Smash Hits – The 80s party performed by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.
