This special concert brings together three wonderful female vocal groups to honour the people, places and stories that make Portsmouth unique.
The Portsmouth Military Wives Choir – a charitable organisation built on the ethos of Sing, Share, Support, joins Portsmouth-based Cantrelle Singers and the a cappella ensemble, the Sonorelles, for a programme inspired by the city itself. The choirs will present songs that reflect Portsmouth’s maritime and military heritage, its vibrant communities and the deep personal connections so many have with the city.
The concert will feature music linked to Portsmouth, alongside songs that capture individual memories and lived experiences — from life by the sea to moments of pride, resilience, and togetherness. Each performance offers a heartfelt tribute to the city’s past and present, told through the voices of women who live, work and sing in and around Portsmouth.
Warm, moving and celebratory, this concert is an invitation for audiences of all ages to reflect on a century of city life and to look forward together. Join us for an afternoon that celebrates Portsmouth at 100, through song, shared memories and community spirit.
