Dance, Live! Newly Announced For Schools and Colleges

The Guildhall Trust is delighted to launch today a completely new dance event for schools and colleges throughout the region, Dance Live!

Embracing an ever-evolving digital world and how this is changing the face of modern performance, Dance Live! will see schools and colleges competing on stage with choreographed routines to the backdrop of a giant digital screen.

Open to all children in Key Stages 2 – 5 (Junior School to College/Sixth Form), pupils will showcase a range of skills from dance and performance to off-stage technical skills and express their creativity on screen through moving images, hand-drawn, cartoon and computer-generated design.

With a focus on raising aspirations and developing skills for creative career choices, the dance event will deliver a range of supportive workshops to participating schools including choreography, digital and graphic design and costume making.

The Guildhall Trust is a registered charity with the core purpose of delivering inspirational opportunities so that people want to engage with culture and the creative economy. With an already active ‘Get Involved’ programme of courses, activities and workshops for young people, Dance Live! is an exciting development on the Trust’s work in the community.

Chief Executive Officer for The Guildhall Trust, Andy Grays said, “We have already been contacted by a large number of schools throughout the region and are delighted to announce this completely new and unique event for schools today. We are really excited to see how pupils will express themselves and utilise modern technology with dance and look forward to working with schools on how performance is changing in the modern world.”

Dance Live! will take place in Spring 2020 and schools are asked to formally register their interest for further details at: www.portsmouthguildhall.org.uk/get-involved
