Big announcement for Guildhall Games Fest!

MAJOR NEW PARTNER GETS ON BOARD FOR GUILDHALL GAMES FEST –
ARE YOU READY FOR INSOMNIA GAMING FESTIVAL TO JOIN US?!

Gamers! You will not want to miss Guildhall Games Fest coming to Portsmouth Guildhall on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd February. 6 zones, spread over 3 floors, across 2 days and now with INSOMNIA Gaming Festival announced as a major new Content Partner!

In a unique partnership outside of their NEC mega event, INSOMNIA Gaming Festival will be uniting players for a weekend of gaming fun in Portsmouth, showcasing the biggest games including Fortnite and Overwatch, hosting multiplayer tournaments and bringing Virtual Reality experiences to Guildhall Games Fest.

Of the unique addition to Guildhall Games Fest, Business Development Manager for The Guildhall Trust, Katherine Scott said, “We are so excited to bring this exciting addition to Portsmouth and expand on the modern gaming aspect of this family-friendly event. Guildhall Games Fest has grown so quickly since its introduction in 2018 that we’ve had to extend it across a much larger area and over 2 days to meet the demand!”

Also added to the event for 2020 are Sneaky Dog Escapes, an exciting, innovative escape room experience provider, who will be taking over the Guildhall basement as an immersive VR Escape Room Zone. Be the centre of your own adventure, whether that is travelling to an ancient Egyptian pyramid, rescuing a ship or being transported to the future. Immersed in vast and immersive sets, you will work with your team to solve puzzles and complete your mission.

 

Can you catch ‘em all? Pokemon League will be at Guildhall Games Fest in force running tournaments and selling merch for experienced players and offering ‘learn to play’ sessions for those new to the phenomenon.

Also new for 2020 is the Innovation Zone, run by new Content Partner, The University of Portsmouth’s Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries. Featuring VR experiences and prototype board and video games you will have the opportunity to experience the latest in innovation and games not on the market. Play, Code, Create!

Reign Gaming by Novatech return as official Event Sponsor and will be running the LAN Zone. The Reign philosophy is simple; design and make great gaming PCs that are built with the most powerful components to run games seamlessly across all genres. Join the LAN party to try out their latest PCs and feel the wind in your hair on their captivating VR rollercoaster ride!

In the Board Gaming Zone, Dice Portsmouth will have an extensive library from which gamers can choose. From easy to learn, to complex strategy games, family classics such as Monopoly and Battleships, to award-winning modern games such as Ticket to Ride and Colt Express, just pick a game and grab a table. With even more games supplied by Asmodee and Queen Game, ET Games tournaments (think Pucket, Rollit and Klask!) gamers will also be able to step into the role of a mighty Archon and enter a world where anything is possible in a Keyforge tournament!

The Retro Zone is this year expanded across three rooms with every console imaginable from Vectrex, to the Game Cube, Playstation 1 and Xbox for people to enjoy Pong to Pac Man and Mario to Minecraft. Players will be invited to see if they can be the last one standing in an exciting Bomberman multiplayer tournament which will be projected onto a big screen.

Sessions will run from 11am-4pm and 5-10pm on Saturday 1st and 11am-4pm on Sunday 2nd February 2020 with more information on tournament sign up available online. For all ages – under 14s to be accompanied by an adult, under 4s free. The Guildhall’s casual dining space, The Square Kitchen, will also be open serving their signature square pizzas from just £4.50!
