Today the most number of shows to go on sale in a day since the start of lockdown have been announced at Portsmouth Guildhall.

Following last week’s announcement that comedy will be making a comeback to the iconic venue this Autumn with distanced events including Jimmy Carr, Carl Hutchinson and Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club TV All Stars evenings, the Guildhall is delighted to announce that the sound of music, and not just laughter, will be following soon after.

With a fantastic range of concerts to suit all musical tastes already on sale for 2021 including Elbow, Jamie Cullum, Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets, UB40 and Belinda Carlisle, today, three exciting, new concerts have been added to the line-up.

Following a Guildhall Studio sell-out in 2019, Tex-Mex fun in the form of Los Pacaminos returns to a bigger, distanced space in February for a tequila-fuelled journey into Mexican border blues. Fronted by Paul Young, whose number one solo hits include ‘Wherever I Lay My Hat’ and ‘Every Time You Go Away’, the spirit of Tex-Mex played by such luminaries as Ry Cooder, Flaco Jimenez and The Texas Tornados is recreated in a foot stomping, blues cruise party!

The next socially distanced show that’s ready to go on 27th February, celebrating life as a one hit wonder, is The Doctor Will See You Now starring Rev. Dr Clive Thomas Jackson of Doctor and The Medics. The bizarre, idiosyncratic and ridiculously funny career of the ‘Spirit in the Sky’ singer, comic, compere and actor is brought together in a smorgasbord of music, dialogue and audience interaction.

And on 16th January, for fans of Paul Weller ahead of his solo sell-out concert later in the year, you can take a trip back to the beginning and what is arguably one of his best periods as a songwriter, with The Style Councillors, the ultimate tribute to The Style Council.

Music is ‘Back with a Bang’ at Portsmouth Guildhall from 2nd January 2021, when The King is Back with Ben Portsmouth, the world’s number one Elvis tribute, plus The Johnny Cash Roadshow, The Story of Guitar Heroes, The Simon & Garfunkel Story and more will see in the new year in style.
Portsmouth Guildhall is ‘Good to Go’ having successfully achieved the Industry Standard Mark of Visit Britain which demonstrates that the venue is adhering to Government and Public Health guidance, has carried out all necessary risk assessments and has the required processes in place.

To ensure the wellbeing of all, an extensive range of Covid Safety measures have been put in place including social distancing, one-way systems, staggered entry and exits, sanitisation stations, temperature checks, face coverings, to your seat service, contactless systems and a thorough cleaning regime after every performance including the use of antiviral misting on seats and carpets in the auditorium.

With limited capacities, tickets will sell quickly so don’t delay, get yours and give yourself something to look forward today!
