As part of our Get Involved programme

As part of its Get Involved programme of activities for the community, The Guildhall Trust has today launched a series of FREE workshops that will take place at Portsmouth Guildhall throughout the Autumn/Winter.

The Sunday Sessions will take place at 10am-12pm on various Sundays, offering a mix of adult and child workshop opportunities and for those with learning disabilities.

The first session on Sunday 16th October, ‘Starburst’, is open to 4-8 year olds, with an interactive performance workshop of dance, drama and singing fun with Theatre Arts and there is the chance for those aged 8+ on 18th December to create their own shadow puppet show with Splodge Designs.

An ‘Improv for Happiness’ comedy workshop for adults 18+ led by Brian Armstrong will take place on 6th November followed by an introduction to Mandala and Dot Painting with Creatful on 20th November (beginners 16+) and a Play Writing to Perform opportunity to create your own theatre piece with Ayse Evans on 8th January (18+).

On 4th December, Red Sauce Theatre Company will lead an interactive performance workshop for anyone aged 16+ with a learning disability. Through the art of storytelling and puppetry the workshop will give participants the chance to make friends, learn new skills and create their own theatre piece.

Head of Learning & Participation for The Guildhall Trust, Hayley Reay, said “We are delighted to be launching the Sunday Sessions which offer free opportunities for the community to come inside the Guildhall, have fun and try something new. The sessions are part of our wider Get Involved programme which offers a range of free or low-cost activities for people to enjoy. As the effects of the cost of living crisis are being widely felt by all, as a charity we wanted to provide opportunities where people can be creative and put their worries to one side for a few hours”.

The Sunday Sessions are in addition to the new Crafty Little Toddler sessions with Mrs Blossom Makes which take place in the Guildhall’s Square Kitchen Café every Tuesday morning until 20th December, 10am -12pm.

With a different theme each week from wand making and sun catchers to Halloween ghost decorations, the drop-in sessions for 18 month – 4 year olds are free to join with no need to book ahead.
