NEW festival to take place on a big stage in Guildhall Square

A glorious afternoon and early evening of music has been announced to take place in Guildhall Square on Sunday 19th July!

The brand-new Pompey Summer Sounds festival, which will take place on a giant stage in front of the Guildhall from midday – 8pm, will feature 9 homegrown music acts and a host of DJs with chilled party vibes guaranteed!

With a range of music genres from indie-rock, pop and rap to be expected, the event is being programmed by well-known organisations on the local music scene, Word of Mouth and LMSUK.

And for a limited time only, tickets at a discounted pre-artist announcement price of just £10 are available now here!

Josh Robinson, CEO of LMSUK the go-to social media agency for musicians worldwide and producers of independent artist RecFest said, “We work with musicians all over the world, but Portsmouth is home and that means everything to us. RecFest started because we wanted local artists to have a real festival experience, not just an open mic night. Pompey Summer Sounds is cut from the same cloth – it’s about giving this city’s incredible talent the platform it deserves. We’re proud to be involved, and if we can give even one artist their first big stage moment this summer, that’s exactly why we do what we do.”

Matt Stevens, Founder of Word of Mouth said, “Over the past few years, Word of Mouth has grown beyond a Hip-Hop focus, though it still remains close to our hearts. The launch of The Portsmouth Music Awards has given us the chance to work closely with artists and creatives across a huge range of genres, build relationships and become fans of the scene as a whole. Pompey Summer Sounds brings a community of music lovers together and gives us the opportunity to offer an unforgettable experience for some of our finest grassroots musicians. We are grateful to be involved and cannot wait to have a Proppa Pompey party with everyone!”

Presented by The Guildhall Trust (the charity that runs Portsmouth Guildhall), the Pompey Summer Sounds festival will be the finale of a special Centenary Series of concerts in Guildhall Square supported by Portsmouth City Council to celebrate 100 years of Portsmouth’s city status.

Other concerts in the Centenary series taking place on 17th and 18th July include a night of epic film music with The Best of Williams & Zimmer and a Smash Hits – The 80s party performed by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.

£10 pre-announcement tickets for the Pompey Summer Sounds festival will not be available for long, so grab them while you can and look forward to a joy-filled 8 hours of music and dancing to the sounds of the summer!
