Crystal Tides are an electrifying indie rock band from the coastal city of Portsmouth, United Kingdom. Formed in the vibrant music scene of this historic naval town, the band has quickly captivated audiences with their catchy melodies, lively performances, and heartfelt lyrics. With multiple sold-out shows and successful UK tours under their belt, Crystal Tides have established themselves as one of the most exciting rising forces in the UK indie landscape.

Their momentum reached a major milestone with the release of their debut album, Toothpaste, making Crystal Tides the first independent band from Portsmouth to achieve a Top 40 position in the Official Albums Chart. The album also reached Number 1 on the Official Download Charts, marking a landmark achievement for both the band and Portsmouth’s independent music scene.

Their rise has been amplified by significant support from BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, Radio X, and Virgin Radio UK, alongside playlist placements across Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music. Their tracks have also featured in hit TV shows including Waterloo Road, Made in Chelsea, and This Morning, while the band have appeared on BBC 5 Live, ITV News, and BBC South Today.

Crystal Tides’ growing presence on national radio continues to surge, with Alyx Holcombe (BBC Radio 1) praising the band, saying, “It’s really giving alt-indie meets pop, this is Down.” John Kennedy (Radio X) has also championed Crystal Tides, describing them as “putting on an incredible show and having the best trousers in the business,” before adding that “it looks like 2026 is going to be their year – putting Portsmouth on the rock map.”

Starting off with Solent! This one is kind of an early Catfish and The Bottlemen vibe, and I love it. That guitar line is insane! This is Crystal Tides!

That's by Crystal Tides, is it just me or is there a hint of Catfish and The Bottleman about this one? From the band based on the South Coast Crystal Tides

Steve Lamacq, BBC R6

That was brand new from Crystal Tides, it's called Animated. I really really love that, it's a big big tune from them!"
