The Piatti Quartet, widely renowned for ‘profound music making’ (The Strad) and ‘lyrical warmth’ (BBC Music Magazine), returns to Portsmouth for the first time since 2022 with a programme crowned by two great Romantic string quartets.

The concert launches with Shostakovich’s turbulent and at times tempestuous String Quartet No.10 which moves between moments of haunting stillness and explosive intensity.

Dvořák’s beloved “American” Quartet bursts with warm melodies, rhythmic flair and folk-inspired charm, making it one of the most popular string quartets ever written, capturing a sense of adventure and discovery.

Tchaikovsky’s String Quartet No.1, is passionate and dramatic with the elegance, warmth and exhilarating energy recognisable from the composer’s great ballet scores and symphonic works.
