The Royal Marines Summer Concert and Ceremony of Beating the Retreat The 30th Anniversary Concert The Royal Marines School of Music is celebrating 30 years of music-making in Portsmouth. To mark this milestone young military musicians will perform their most sensational concert of 2026, and this year it’s going to be bigger and better than ever before.

30 years ago, the Royal Marines School of Music moved from Deal in Kent to Portsmouth, and since then the school has been the foundation for the musical training of hundreds of Royal Marines musicians and buglers.

This year the Summer Concert and Beating Retreat will be packed with pageantry and passion, celebrating the past and the future. It will be a stunning concert bringing together music and entertainment which celebrates the pride, the professionalism and song from some of the country’s finest young musicians.

There will be fanfares, marches and the unforgettable Corps of Drums. There will be spectacular performances from the concert band, the Big Band, from soloists and singers. Finally, the ground will shake with the unmissable sounds and spectacle of the world-famous Ceremony of Beating the Retreat.

Join us for a dazzling concert and Beating Retreat from the Band of His Majesty’s Royal Marines School of Music.
